Dermaplaning
Conveniently located to serve Seattle, Kirkland, Bellevue, and Redmond
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that targets the skin and is usually used on the face. It rejuvenates the skin while reducing skin issues. At The Spa at Liebertz Plastic Surgery at Yarrow Bay, we perform high-quality dermaplaning for Seattle patients.
What Is Dermaplaning?
Factors such as the environment, gravity, stress, and aging have negative effects on the skin. We use skin-rejuvenation treatments like dermaplaning to reduce these negative effects. Dermaplaning is a treatment that removes the top layer of the skin to achieve younger-looking skin.
How Does Dermaplaning Work?
Dermaplaning is performed by using a specialized sterile blade to remove the top skin layer, getting rid of dead cells, scar tissue, debris, and damaged skin. This exposes newer skin cells and stimulates collagen creation, thus not only solving skin issues but also producing a rejuvenating effect.
Dermaplaning can treat acne scars, dull skin, dry skin, sun-damaged skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. It can also get rid of fine vellus hairs (peach fuzz).
Am I a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is suitable for patients with good overall skin health. Patients who want to avoid harsh exfoliators are excellent candidates for dermaplaning.
Patients of all skin types, including those with sensitive skin, are good candidates for dermaplaning procedures. This procedure is safe for pregnant women.
Candidates must not have undergone a facelift procedure in the six weeks leading up to their dermaplaning treatment.
Good candidates have realistic expectations and no serious active skin issues such as active or cystic acne. Candidates know that dermaplaning results will not last permanently and are willing to follow skincare recommendations for optimal results.
Your Consultation
During your consultation, we will listen to your skin concerns, examine your facial skin, and evaluate your medical records. Next, we will recommend a suitable treatment plan depending on your goals and skin health.
We will explain each detail of the treatment plan. This will include not only the actual treatment but also aftercare, expected results, and cost. We will be happy to answer all your questions.
Your Dermaplaning Session
The dermaplaning session can last from 20 to 30 minutes depending on the treatment plan. Topical anesthesia may be applied to make the patient comfortable.
A specialized dermaplaning tool will be used to scrape the top layer of the skin. The tool will be positioned at a 45-degree angle. The final step of the treatment will be application of a special cream and sunscreen.
After Your Dermaplaning Session
The patient can go home or get back to normal activities immediately after the dermaplaning treatment. It requires no recovery time.
Specific aftercare instructions will be provided, including a recommended skincare routine to maintain results. The patient may experience minor redness for a few days. It is important to avoid sun exposure in the treatment area.
How Much Does Dermaplaning Cost?
The price of a dermaplaning treatment session will depend on the number of treatment areas. If the patient is combining dermaplaning with other cosmetic treatments such as a chemical peel, the overall cost will increase.
